Yoga is both a methodology to cultivate fitness and radiant health, but also skillful stress management, self-regulation of the nervous system, and development of equanimity and authenticity. If you’ve heard about the many benefits of yoga but are unsure about attending group classes, or feel that lack of familiarity with the basics is an obstacle, private yoga instruction is a great way to get started.
Private yoga lessons are the way students most quickly and accurately learn the postures, body alignment, breathing, meditation and other yoga practices. I offer private yoga sessions to students in Cambridge and the Boston area. Interestingly, many people may not know that yoga was classically, and for many centuries, taught on a one-to-one basis, before group classes came into fashion. Private yoga lessons are typically 60, 75 or 90 minutes, longer sessions are optional.

SLOW FLOW YOGA
Slow Flow Yoga class uses a creative sequence of postures coordinated with breath to stretch, strengthen and invigorate the entire body. Students are guided through postures using breath to support steadiness of mind while simultaneously releasing chronic tension and developing body awareness. Alignment cues and hands-on assists are woven into the flow to guide students to safely receive maximum benefit from the practice. Class ends with deep relaxation, allowing energy to naturally flow to the areas of the body most in need of rejuvenation and healing. This class is deeply nourishing, restoring balance between mind and body, helping you achieve optimal physical, cognitive and emotional functioning.
This class is highly inclusive, posture modifications are offered to suit all fitness levels.
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, Hatha Yoga class can help you develop a healthy and balanced practice to serve you well throughout your life. A great opportunity to de-stress and cultivate concentration, this class explores breath awareness and the fundamentals of alignment in yoga postures to create a safe and mindful experience of yoga. The heart of the class is an inspired sequence of postures that simultaneously develop strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Each class ends with deep relaxation and meditation. Posture modifications are offered to suit all fitness levels.

HATHA YOGA FLOW
A strong, deeply transformative practice, this class is a dynamic flow with creative sequencing of postures and breathwork to awaken energy in the body. Students develop strength, flexibility and balance while building a stable body-mind container to support emotional resilience and full aliveness in the body. Some postures are led with longer holding to generate heat, encourage the body to release deep-seated tension, and shift long-held patterns. Posture modifications are offered to suit all fitness levels.

making a direct, positive impact
The Yoga in Schools program empowers teenagers to shape their own existence with skillful-living tools such as self-regulation, self-inquiry, and self-care. It targets Social and Emotional Learning competencies, including stress management, emotion and behavior regulation, self-appreciation, and strong relationship skills. The program incorporates practices such as breathing exercises, warm-ups, experiential activities, yoga postures, deep relaxation, and meditation techniques to strengthen students’ awareness of the connection between their minds and their physical bodies. Each session creates a safe environment during the regular school day for teens to cultivate mindfulness, which develops into compassionate awareness of self and others, building a sense of community and connectedness for students within their school.

When we brought the Yoga in Schools program to Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in the fall semester of 2017, the response from the students has been overwhelming—three times as many teens signed up than expected. The corporate yoga program is highly adaptable and designed for all fitness and experience levels, beginners through advanced. Classes can be easily taught in a conference room or other empty space. The only equipment required for a session of yoga is exercise mats. We will work with you to create a customized yoga program specifically tailored to the needs of your company. In a typical yoga session, the students will be guided in active movement, breath awareness, mindfulness meditation, and relaxation. Classes are usually 45 or 60-minutes, and are generally scheduled before/after work or during lunch hours.
